Grant permissions on macOS

Enable microphone and accessibility access so Dictāta can record and insert text.

Updated 2026-06-25

Microphone

Dictāta asks for microphone access on first use. If you denied it by mistake:

  1. Open System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Microphone.
  2. Find Dictāta in the list.
  3. Enable the toggle.

Without microphone permission, recording will not start.

Accessibility

Accessibility permission allows Dictāta to insert transcribed text into other applications.

  1. Open System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Accessibility.
  2. Find Dictāta.
  3. Enable the toggle.
  4. If Dictāta is already in the list but greyed out, toggle it off and back on.

Without Accessibility permission, text will not be inserted into other applications.
