Grant permissions on macOS
Enable microphone and accessibility access so Dictāta can record and insert text.
Updated 2026-06-25
Microphone
Dictāta asks for microphone access on first use. If you denied it by mistake:
- Open System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Microphone.
- Find Dictāta in the list.
- Enable the toggle.
Without microphone permission, recording will not start.
Accessibility
Accessibility permission allows Dictāta to insert transcribed text into other applications.
- Open System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Accessibility.
- Find Dictāta.
- Enable the toggle.
- If Dictāta is already in the list but greyed out, toggle it off and back on.
Without Accessibility permission, text will not be inserted into other applications.
