Styles

Use Formal, Casual, or None to control the tone of dictation output.

What Styles do

Styles control the tone and level of polish applied to your dictation output.

Unlike Prompts, which shape what the AI does with your text, Styles set the overall register of the final result.

Available styles

  • Formal: cleans up speech into polished, professional-sounding text. Filler words are removed, sentences are structured, and grammar is corrected.
  • Casual: keeps output conversational. Dictāta cleans up obvious errors but preserves your natural rhythm and word choices.
  • None: standard transcription cleanup with no strong stylistic direction.

Switch styles

Open the floating button menu and select Formal or Casual from the style options.

The selected style applies to every dictation until you change it.

Styles and Prompts

Styles and Prompts are mutually exclusive. If a Prompt is active, the Style setting has no effect, and vice versa.

Deselect the active Prompt to use a Style. Deselect the Style to use a Prompt.
