Apple Dictation cuts out after roughly 30–60 seconds, drops words in longer sessions, cannot translate on the fly, and doesn't remove filler words or offer in-context rewriting. Dictāta eliminates session cutoffs, formats speech cleanly, translates between languages, and offers Context Actions to rewrite or refine text in place.
Apple requires third-party keyboard extensions to request Full Access in order to access the internet. Because Dictāta uses cloud AI models for transcription and rewriting, network access is required. We only use this permission to process your speech; your audio is never stored or used for AI training.
Dictāta works in any app that uses the standard iOS keyboard input: Apple Messages (iMessage), WhatsApp, Gmail, Apple Mail, Apple Notes, Slack, Notion, and Safari.
Yes. Choose your target output language on the keyboard, speak naturally in your native language, and Dictāta types the translated, polished output directly into your text field.
No. On iOS, third-party keyboard extensions are subject to strict memory limits imposed by Apple (typically ~30–50 MB RAM), which prevents loading large on-device speech models inside the keyboard extension. Dictāta processes iPhone speech via our GDPR-compliant cloud service.
