How accurate is Dictāta's voice recognition?
Dictāta uses world-class models to deliver industry-leading accuracy. Our smart dictionary also learns your unique names and technical jargon, so it gets better every time you use it.
What languages does Dictāta support?
Dictāta supports dozens of languages. You can speak in English and get text in Spanish or German — perfect for international work.
How do Context Actions work?
Context Actions let you edit text anywhere. Just select a block of text, press Alt + R (or Control + Option on Mac), and tell Dictāta what to do. It will rewrite, translate, or summarize the text instantly.
Can I choose my own hotkeys?
Yes. Go to Settings > Interface. Under Keyboard Shortcuts, click Record Keys and choose the combination that works best for you.
What happens to my dictated text?
Your privacy is our priority. Your dictations and audio are stored only on your device. We never use your data for AI training, and your audio never stays on a server. We only collect basic usage stats and your email address to keep the service running — we don't even ask for your name.
Can I use Dictāta offline?
We are currently developing a local version that will work completely offline. Your data will stay 100% on your device at all times.
Can I transcribe the same text twice?
Yes. In the "Recent Transcripts" section on the main page, click the regenerate button. You can even use the Ctrl+Tab shortcut to regenerate the latest transcript instantly.
How can I switch from dictation to translation?
Right-click the microphone button to quickly select your mode. Fast Transcription is for typing with AI Actions, and Translate Instantly is for immediate translation into any language.
Is there a limit to how much I can dictate?
The free version includes 30 minutes of dictation. The Basic Plan offers 10 hours per month, and the Pro Plan is completely unlimited.
Is Dictāta GDPR-compliant?
Yes. We are based in Germany and follow strict European privacy laws. Your data belongs to you.
Can I keep my private data safe from AI?
Absolutely. Use Voice Commands for things like emails or sensitive info. This pastes the text directly and doesn't send it to the AI — it's like a privacy shield for your most important data.
How do I get started?
Download Dictāta, press Alt twice (or Option twice on Mac), and start talking. To cancel dictation on Mac, you can press Option + Escape. It's that simple!
